Tranche 2 of EATF

Short post this week, Ive been asked to shorten these posts, So more investigation will get you further by reading more yourself.

We are happy to have now 500 Members on the Facebook group, thanks to all those people who are following this eras changes, which we have been watching unfold since the first post on this website onĀ  07 April. Over the last 4 Months there has been a rapid change to the way highways through Department for Transport instruction are addressing the eras transport issues, and backed by Government announcements campaigners are receiving backing unlike ever before. You might even compare U.K to Nederland 50 years ago when the amount of road deaths brought together campaigners seeking safer, better roads for their families. There are around 5 road deaths a day in U.K at present, and less room than ever for the amount of vehicles to move around, this wasnt an intention of the U.K Government, its just a consequence of 50 years prioritizing cars as the primary mover. There have been no new roads built in BH areas since Wessex Way, which is also the reason why our conurbation regularly makes league tables of the most congested in England, fact is the sea is in the way and that means all West -East movements are even more constricted than other places.

So back to today, and the second tranche of schemes for enabling Active Travel are now bid for, and to be discussed at next Cabinet meeting, read about them here. The BHAT Forum contributes to helping the engineers see road schemes from a user perspective, sometimes in agreement, sometimes not. Unlike the first tranche of funding, which had to be spent and proven quickly- these schemes will be implemented over a longer time, the very fact that BCP made quick moves on some long desired road changes is the reason they will likely be given the funds bid for. This isnt an era of banning cars, its a progressive coalition party that leads on new changes, and we welcome more involvement with the Officers tasked with making our BH Streets better. Have a look through the upcoming works, and do let us know how you appreciate them, theres some great efforts to make BH wide avenues much much better streets than they are already. Youll have to explore the website, but that isnt like reading a clickbait fake news headline is it? Thankyou.

We know what we prefer our streets looking like.
